Its name is derived from a place called the Labrador Peninsula, which is originally a source of Canadian variety of Feldspar stones. On the Mohs scale, it has a hardness of 6.0 to 6.5 and its specific gravity measure of 2.68 to 2.7. Labradorite is a combination of different colors, legend claims Aurora Boreali's birth was from this magical stone when a Knight struck it with a spear and the colors were freed but others were still trapped inside the stone.
